Julie Battisti

Picture
Julie Battisti's initial focus on small and natural things started as a form of escapism. For many years her default approach to a busy life meant neglecting the beautiful ‘little things’ that surrounded her in daily life.

The process of photographing and painting flowers was a way to counteract this. Through enlarging photos and playing with scale she had the opportunity to spend months focusing on, and getting lost in these very same small things she once ignored.

Oil panting is a slow process for Julie, but the fluidity of the oils allows me to build up rich smooth layers of paint and create the buttery and translucent surface of petals.

The photographs included in this exhibition have been printed locally in NZ onto satin, which allows a crisp print quality and enhances the texture of the image.

All artwork in the 'Impossible Arrangements ' exhibition will be available for sale and delivered to any address in New Zealand or overseas. For more information please contact  Lynn Lawton at lynnlawton@gmail.com
