Riki Bowler

I am a self taught artist and moved to the Hokianga nine years ago.

I have always been drawn to painting birds and animals sometimes with a touch of whimsy but always endeavour to portray them in the light of kindness, beauty and gentleness.

The Hokianga has a wealth of beautiful birds from those who twitter, warble and call to us from the trees as we go about our daily tasks to those who inhabit the wetlands on the fringe of the Harbour, to some we don’t see except at night.

I paint on a variety of supports including canvas and mdf board but also love painting on recycled furniture.

Having just discovered the joy of monoprinting I am endeavouring to incorporate this into my collaged and painted work.
