Road Trip
9 Sept - 5 Oct

Childhood memories, Creating memories, Future memories
"When I was eight years old, my family embarked on a road trip around Northland. As a school teacher, my mother encouraged my sister and I to create a scrapbook of our travels. Years later, when my own children were young, my husband and I took them on a similar journey. Now, my children are embarking on their own road trips with their partners, and I can envision them sharing this tradition with their own children one day. These artworks were inspired by our recent travels and the memories they evoke."

I take my inspiration from nature and the environment around me. My latest paintings are influenced by humans’ effects on our beautiful planet for good and bad.
I love the colour green and there is often evidence in my art (even if it’s just a splash), and I am particularly drawn to the way light filters through the forest leaves creating patterns of light and shadow.
When I’m creating, I build up layers in the painting using intuitive mark-making, painting, and a variety of media, inviting the viewer to delve deeper into the artwork.
I want my feelings to be seen in my art.
